Asset Management

Overview

Merit Asset tracks IT and operational assets assigned to employees: laptops, phones, access cards, and similar items.

Step-by-Step Guide

View asset register

  1. Open Asset (/asset).
  2. Browse assets by status: Available, Assigned, Retired.
  3. Search by asset tag, serial number, or assignee.

Check out an asset

  1. From the workbench, select an available asset.
  2. Click Check out (or use Scan flow).
  3. Assign to an employee and record condition notes.
  4. Confirm checkout — assignee and date are logged.

Return an asset

  1. Locate the assigned asset.
  2. Click Return or Check in.
  3. Record condition on return.
  4. Asset returns to Available pool or Retired if written off.

Scan-based checkout

  1. Open Asset → Scan (/asset/scan) on a device with camera access.
  2. Scan the asset barcode or QR label.
  3. Follow prompts to assign or verify custody.

Q: Who can manage assets?
A: Typically IT administrators and office managers with Asset module permissions.

Q: Can employees see assets assigned to them?
A: Depending on configuration, assignees may view custody via Merit Me or Asset read-only views.

Q: Does Asset integrate with payroll?
A: No direct payroll impact. Asset is an operational register separate from CPF wages.

Q: How do I add a new asset category?
A: Contact your administrator or implementation consultant for catalogue extensions.

Q: Is depreciation calculated here?
A: Merit Asset focuses on custody tracking. Financial depreciation remains in your accounting system unless custom integration is deployed.
